If you are looking for a friendly, picturesque place to stay that will provide you with everything that you need to explore Ireland, then take a look at the Coach House cottage on our farm in Ireland's Sunny South East!

We are situated two hours from the bustling cities of Cork and Dublin, in the beautiful coastal County Wexford. We are also close to the medieval cities of Waterford and Kilkenny, and counties Carlow, Tipperary and Wicklow as well as major attractions like the Rock of Cashel, Waterford Crystal and the National Stud in Kildare.

Our area, just outside of New Ross, is rich in emigrant history and is the ancestral home of former American President John F Kennedy. The Dunbrody Famine Ship provides a unique and informative insight into the heritage of thousands of families who trace their roots back to Ireland. Wexford is also home to the Irish National Heritage Park, where you can follow the outdoor heritage trails and get a feel for life in Ireland during the Celtic, Viking and Norman periods.

Within a short drive of the cottages you will also find the oldest functioning lighthouse in Europe, the Hook Lighthouse, not far from many beautiful beaches, fishing villages in a landscape with countless medieval castles, churches and forts which remind us of our rich Viking and Norman history!

" The perfect place to spend our first year anniversary.
We can't believe we saw 2 abbeys, 3 castles, a fort
and an 800 year old lighthouse all in one day! "

There are many local attractions near the cottage, the nearest of which is the extensive J.F. Kennedy Arboretum/Forest Park which has many wonderful walking trails, and a mountain-top viewing point and a cafe & children's play area. The Kennedy Homestead Visitor Centre, the ancestral home of President J.F. Kennedy's great great grandfather, is also near us. New Ross, 9 km, has the Dunbrody Emigrant Ship which offers an excellent visitor experience, shop and restaurant. Also in New Ross is the splendid Ros Tapestry, a display of 15 hand-stitched embroidered panels depicting the Norman History of New Ross in flamboyant style and colour.

Dunbrody Abbey and Tintern Abbey are the nearest of many historic ruins. Near Hook Head, Loftus Hall, said to be haunted, offers day and night-time guided tours and we have lots of sandy beaches all along the Hook Peninsula and the south coast from Duncannon to Fethard-on-Sea and Kilmore Quay to Rosslare. The Irish National Heritage Park near Wexford offers a wonderful walk through Ireland's past all the way back to pre-historic times amongst a crannog, round tower, celtic crosses, and viking ship on the river. Wexford town with its narrow bustling streets is home to the annual October Wexford International Opera Festival which is a mecca for music lovers and the Fringe Event is packed with art & craft exhibitions, concerts and singing pub contests.
New Ross Choral Festival is in May when the town is filled with singers and singing. The Kennedy Summer School in New Ross in September reflects on political and social issues. The New Ross Piano Festival at the end of September is growing in stature with many famous pianists now taking part and grand pianos in shops and in the streets inviting everyone to try their hand.
In our village of Whitechurch we have our own annual Vintage and Steam Rally and Barn Dance in mid-August when the village is filled with steam engines, vintage farm machinery and cars as well as horse ploughing and steam threshing and snacks of pigs feed and colcannon.

Even though we are tucked away in a quiet little area, there is so much to do in the area if you choose to leave the comfort and relaxing atmosphere of the cottage and garden!

"We have fallen in love with the cottage, the area and surrounding areas. I don't think we have ever managed to do so much in 1 week!! Coach House is a credit to Roger & Patricia who have been excellent hosts, they gave us space whilst always being around if needed. We particularly loved the peace and quiet all around us, disturbed only by the cows! Beats traffic noise any day! Enjoyed Dunbrody Famine Ship, Hook Lighthouse, JFK Arboretum. Tintern Abbey is gorgeous. Fantastic time and defo would come again. Many thanks. LK, Ireland
